ours broke very quickly November 22, 2008 Our mask stopped working really quickly despite batteries being changed and endless fiddling around with it to get it going again. The other problem with it was that when it was working, the person inside the mask can't hear their voice changing, so it's only successful for people listening. It does a great job when it's working but I'm not surprised people have found this very quickly consigned to the back of the toy cupboard. I wish we'd held out and spent more, getting the dalek or cyberman mask. I think my kids would have stayed interested in it for longer.

my 7 year old wanted this for his bday,he's not a doctor who fan so if your child is you may think different,my boy complained of it hurting him as its very heavy, played with it on his birthday now its thrown in his toy box, he'll get it out the odd time to scare his baby sister apart from that he's not bothered at all
Frighteningly Realistic November 24, 2007 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
My wife and I bought this for our young grandson for his birthday. It is certainly scary, which is what he wanted, don't ask me why. Monsters over good guys any day for our grandson. The voice change mechanism works quite well and for a young child the change in the tone of his voice must be magical.
I thought that my grandson's idea of having the mask would change once he had put it on. I felt, myself that it would feel quite claustrophobic, but it didn't seem to phase him at all and he has played with it a great deal. As with all these things eventually the novelty will wear off and it will find a place towards the back of his toy cupboard. Until then we only see a one-eyed monster with facial tentacles, who is about to destroy the world. An expensive item for what it is, but what toy isn't these days.
