1 out of 5 stars Talking Tardis Language Alert   November 6, 2007

Just want to warn those of a sensitive nature (like me) that the new version has Martha saying "Oh my God" very clearly. If you don't want your children to repeat this over and over again, the older version is more suited to you.

5 out of 5 stars It won't travel in time and space...   July 8, 2007

... but it will keep your change save and be fun to look at and to play with.
I got one for my girlfriend's birthday at the beginning of the year and she immediately was in love with it (although it is a V2 and she isn't really a fan of David Tennant).
Even not Who-fans soon will be fascinated by the little blue light on top and the sounds.

For a tenner this is a really cool toy and you always know where to put your change.

5 out of 5 stars A nice and sturdy place to put your loose change   July 5, 2007

It has been quite disappointing that there has been no replacement to the Dapol Tardis yet despite the large range of 5" figurines available. This money box is a great way to satisfy that craving for a Tardis to look at.

What pleases me most about this item is its durability. The whole thing is made from tough plastic and is really sturdy. This makes it more than capable of being a good place to put your coins. The version I bought recently was the second version with the Tenth Doctor and Rose adorning the inside.

In terms of the additional features, it's quite a nice thing. There are a few, good sound quality phrases upon opening the doors (which you have to press in to open) and the favourite de-materialisation sound complete with flashing lamp when you close them.

It's a great object for the price and I'm very pleased with it.

5 out of 5 stars Great fun!   March 10, 2007

Bought this as a present for my partner and it's great fun. Highly recommended. Good, clear 'vocals' as well.
As for the batteries, just go to a poundshop and get a sheet of different sized batteries (for a naturally!).

5 out of 5 stars A fun piece of kit!   February 2, 2007

This tardis money box is a great item. I have one on my shelf which is storing all my loose copper change, and my 3 year-old nephew enjoys playing with one as his new toy (apart from being fascinated by the flashing light and speech, he understands it is a money box and is keeping money in it also - so in this respect it has also proved educational).

It is made of a hard plastic outer shell with cardboard used for the interior decoration with money slot, so I think it would survive a few accidental falls to the floor.

The one thing I do have to mention is that there are 2 versions of this toy - the one shown by Amazon here is the initial Eccleston Doctor release - this takes the LR44 button-sized batteries which can be hard to find (although Maplins Electronics had some under the name 357X). The speech and tardis landing sound on this release seems to be of poor quality though - very tinny and highly compressed. The button battery power you are looking for is 1.5/155v and as well as LR44 and 357X, the following ones will also work: G13, A76(-1), PX76(A), 675, V13GA, L1154, RW82, D303, 113150, SR44/W, D/V/SP357, 1166A, GP76A.

The newer release features the Tennant Doctor and contains speech from the "Christmas Invasion" special. The sound quality is much improved - it sounds clearer and louder; also the hard-to-find battery problem is solved - this version no longer needs LR44 batteries but much easier to find AAA ones instead - 3 of them needed altogether.

They are both worth getting in there own right, but if you only want one, go for the newer Tennant version for ease of battery finding and better sound quality.
