Product Description Take home your very own Roary racing car! Remote controlled Roary comes with a steering wheel control so you can steer Roary forwards, backwards, left or right! The remote is chunky and easy for little hands to use. With sound and phrases. A fun first remote controlled car that allows your child to control the play - great for the next Schumacher in training! Bright colours and human like "face" make him appear friendly.

Avoid at all costs November 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 4 year old son bought this car with his birthday money. It works intermittently, and when it does (as previous reviews have noted) it drives very slowly and has a huge turning circle. Ultimately, it is little more than a static plastic replica of Rory, so not worth paying more than a fiver for!
Light 'em up, Roary!!! February 28, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
My son and I have had great fun with this toy over the past couple of months, and still do -- best Christmas present I ever bought!
It is speedy, tough, and faithful to the TV character. Admittedly traction is better on carpet than laminate, but I found it very easy to control, and had no problems with the turning circle. No, it won't turn on a dime, so you do have to practice some 3-point turns, but well, there's your educational element: spacial awareness, hand/eye co-ordination, etc. - good practice for when the kids are 17!
If responsiveness, or range of remote IR signal decreases, just replace the batteries in the car (not necessarily the remote), and all should be well again. I've also found that sunlight can interfere with the remote IR signal when the car travels into direct sunlight at a distance - just move closer to it.
All in all, a superb toy. If I had had one as a kid, I would have been well chuffed. I just wish they would bring out another remote control character, e.g. Maxi, so you could have races!
Good Fun But Poor turn and wheels spin January 19, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This toy was bought for my son's 4 birthday. He was able to quickly grasp the remote contol functions so enjoyed it for a while. However my comments echo those of others, as the car is vitually impossible to control with any accuracy. The Steering is slow to respond and makes it difficult to steer round any corners. This means that you have to practice multiple three point turns to get around even a fairly small space. The wheels also have a tendency to spin when you try to move forwards, again making the car hard to control even for an adult. We have another buggy type remote control car and this soon over took roary in popularity because of its contolability and speed. The toy is though very robust and is bright and very accutate when compared to Roary on the TV.
Excellent Fun! December 27, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
All I can say is that it goes faster than I thought it would, and can happily drive around our house (which isn't particularly big). I would say turning circle of about 6 feet, and drives at an adults walking pace, so perhaps the other reviewer had a faulty car? The remote is infra-red so you have to keep it in sight to drive it, other than that you just need to keep that dad's of it! Not very educational but you wouldn't expect it to be, the sounds are also good (and can be muted if they get annoying!).
Durability is fairly good, it hasn't been thrown down the stairs yet(!), but has been crashed into the walls etc and has survived unscathed.
Big Chris needs to adjust Roary's steering! December 20, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My youngest son loves Roary the Racing Car (the series) and acts out whole dramas, but he had a mixed response when we got this replica. My son loved the look of it and the chunky feel - and for a limited time the phrases uttered when Roary's cap is pressed gave him (if not us) some amusement.
What really leaves us disappointed is the R/C feature. Sure it goes backwards and forwards (slowly), but the wheels hardly turn to steer - I estimate it to have about a fifty foot turning circle, which means that for indoor use its pretty useless. He'd certainly end up off in the mud at Silver Hatch. However, for a four year old, my son is getting pretty good at 20 point turns....
