Great fun for little girls but few points to consider January 5, 2007 12 out of 14 found this review helpful
I bought this item for my six year old daughter who is a big fan of Bratz and loved the Gamecube Bratz game. I had heard great things about the Miuchiz but was disappointed overall, even though my daughter is thrilled.
1. If you do not have an internet connection then I would NOT recommend that you buy this. Without connecting the Miuchiz and updating the software it will only run half the features on the handheld.
2. There is a glitch where when the three energy bars all run down to red (which usually happens within a day) then the game will not allow you to do anything if you have no creditz saved. This is solved with the above update. In short YOU HAVE to update this handheld by registering it or you are left with an item that does not work.
3. The online world is supposed to be pretty good but so far I am unimpressed. There is not alot to do apart from chat, earn creditz and shop. Yes they are adding things and improving 'Planet Mion' bit by bit but currently Boomtown (the section where Bratz are allowed) is half empty. My daughter was lost and needed my guidance to discover what there was to do. The games all earn a standard 200 creditz regardless of what difficulty level you choose or how far you progress in the game.
4. There are places to report glitches placed all over Mion and this is a good thing but I think some of the glitches are very annoying and so far unsolved. My daughter and a couple of others that I spoke to had experienced creditz simply vanishing!
This is fantastic in terms of safe chat for kids as parents can choose whether they want click chat (limited to certain phrases), miuchat (just chatting to friends) or open chat for the older players. The parent can set this via the parental preferential control.
I think once planet Mion has developed and had most of the glitches ironed out then it will be impressive. Right now it has the feel of going on holiday when building work is still going on.
On the plus side my daughter does love the Miuchiz and was thrilled to get it, but had I not been smart enough to unpackage, register and rewrap for Christmas it could have been a very tearfilled Christmas day.
Potential to be great but currently falls short. January 4, 2007 13 out of 16 found this review helpful
I bought this for my six year old daughter for Christmas and although she does love it, there are some negative points to consider before purchasing such an expensive hand held game.
1. If you do not have an internet connection to update the hand held then the functions are halved. There is also a glitch that means if the three bars reach red (which is very likely to happen within a day) and have no creditz spare, then you are unable to do anything in the game until the update that fixes this has been installed.
2. Currently there are many glitches on planet Mion (the online game)and having a day of play without something going wrong is a rarity. The most recent for us was 3000 creditz vanishing for no known reason and then not being able to interact with any of the arcade games. The good thing is that there are places to report glitches on every corner plus bots that can help you. I would imagine that the reason the online play is free currently is because there is so much still to fix on Mion.
3. Besides a few arcade games and some shopping and chatting, there really isn't much else to do on Mion yet.
In conclusion, although this is a nifty idea it is still very flawed and really I think it has a shelf life in terms of how much interest it will hold for any child. To renew the online game play will be somewhere in the region of 20 per year and in my opinion it is not worth that as things currently stand. With the popularity of this gift over the Christmas period, it now seems that the server may not be coping as now I am finding it increasingly difficult to log on.
A cute game but still has a long way to go to meet expectations.
