Roll the die to determine the fate of your marble fish; a number will move your fish up the stream but land pirahna face up and beware; your fish could end up back at the bottom thanks to a hungry piranha attack! The aim of the game is to be the first to get all three of your fish marbles to the top of the stream. Children will love the anticipation of the piranha attack!

5 out of 5 stars Great game   November 25, 2008

I bought this for my six year old and it is a really fun game. Its simple so you can start playing almost straight away without having to read pages of rules. Even though its a simple concept it doesn't get boring at all and is even fun for the parents!

5 out of 5 stars Fun for all ages. 99/100.   August 29, 2008

This is the best activity game my children have ever played. We bought it at the beginning on the school holidays and it's still a firm favourite at the end of the holidays, not relegated to a dusty shelf like most others. I'm buying another today for a birthday present so I can't recommend it more than that.
It's loved by my 3,6 and 8 year old and is the first game ever I've found they will play together without adult help right to the end.
It has also taught my 3 year old to count. He's never been able to equate numbers on a dice with jumps, spaces etc before but he is now 'getting it'. The dice only goes up to 2 (2 sides 2, 2 sides 1, 1 side blue fish, 1 side pirhana) so it is very helpful in teaching very young children that dice numbers mean jumps forward in a game whereas with a conventional dice up to 6, younger children get too confused. That's not to say it isn't great fun for older children too. Even I enjoy playing this one.

The game is made of very sturdy thick plastic, even the detachable legs are child proof. None of that flimsyness which spoils modern versions of 'Guess Who' etc. A minor quibble is the fish in the small marbles are slightly hard to differentiate. The larger Piranha Marbles are fine. The top display clips on and off for storage easily and the bottom tray which collects the piranha eaten marbles also detaches.

The idea of the game is that each player has 3 marbles each and starting at the base of the slope their fish must travel upstream. The throw of the dice dictates whether your marble moves 1 space, 2 spaces, no spaces (blue fish) or if the piranha is thrown then the player throws again to see how many Big piranha marbles are launched under the slope to knock of players small fish marbles. It's random how the marbles fall so you can't tell if you will knock your fish or opponents fish off. If the second throw is a Piranha then everyone shouts 'Piranha Panic' and much hilarity ensues as all 4 large piranhas are launched. The launching device is a old slot machine type push handle which is easily operated while still being sturdy. The lagre piranha balls are tipped under the players small fish marbles and the clever mechanism flips a piranha over to where your small fish marble was previously sitting prettily if you are unlucky enough to get caught.
You can block off your opponents travelling upstream but suprisingly my children don't want to do that aspect of the game. They don't get competitive (which they do in games like snakes and ladders) they are just waiting and cheering on the next 'Piranha Panic'.
A good fun game that doesn't last hours and the children don't end up arguing or in tears. Bliss.

we bought this game for our son for christmas after months of searching around and hunting managed to track one down. it is one of the presants that my son (who is nearly 9) has played with every day. very straight forward and a lot of fun for all the family. i would reccomend if you can find it anywhere.

5 out of 5 stars Simple but addictive fun for all ages!   January 1, 2007

I collect games of all types, and when I purchased this one, as with the previous reviewer; I was sceptical on how it would be when I played it with my friend at Christmas. However, the game is simple and learned in a matter of seconds; it's mostly based on luck with a little bit of skill attached as to where you place your fish or place the Piranhas. We found it addictive fun, and would imagine that this game would appeal to all ages who didn't wish to learn a book of rules before sitting down to play. The only criticism we would have is that the fish playing marbles are not distinguished easily enough from each other, hence when playing, players are apt to move, or at lest begin to move someone else's fish! This aside, you're in for some simple fun!

Enjoy!

I was a bit sceptical when my wife bought this to play with our son, who is four years old. At first glance it seemed a bit one dimensional, and something that would become boring very quickly.
However, it has not turned out like that, and we are still being pestered to play most days! Games only last five or ten minutes, and can get quite exciting if more than two players are playing at once.
It is pretty well made, and provinding you don't lose any marbles it should last a good long time.
