Looks cool November 10, 2008 These things look great whizzing round the wheels, the different effects and colours are great but our problem was actually getting it "into" the wheel. It was really tricky to get it in through the spokes and then more so to make it secure so you must check the spokes of the bike before buying this otherwise you`ll be cursing (like my husband was last Christmas!). Since then our little "darling" has changed his bike and the rainbow racer no longer fits , however, it does get whizzed around in dark rooms from time to time and it has survived so it seems pretty durable in that respect... we`ve not tested it in puddles like the previous reviewer but I can guess that water would get into the battery compartment as it only clicks shut. Great effect on a bike wheel but watch the spoke gaps on your wheels before purchasing.
Looks good but....... December 28, 2007 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
We have found a fault that others may experience but have found a way to rectify it. One of ours did not work properly. The demonstration batteries were obviuosly low hence it did not chage colour. We then put Duracel Plus batteries in. These did not work as the nipple on the batteries did not protude enough (unlike the batteries supplied) to reach the connector in the Rainbow Racer. This was rectified by using foil! So if your racer does not work when new batteries inserted, check nipple size to the demonsatrtion batteries. If smaller, add a small amount of tin foil to the top of the batterie. It should work then! Also avoid puddles. It is not water tight!
