Amazon.co.uk Review This is another edition of the world-famous popular word game for two to four players. The object of the game is to compete for the highest score by forming interlocking words in cross-word fashion on the Scrabble board using tiles displaying letters with various score values. Higher scores can be obtained by using the tiles in locations and combinations that make most use of the letter values and premium squares (eg: triple letter score, double word score, etc.) on the board. The manufacturers recommend that the game is suitable for people age 10 years upwards, which is more or less accurate though slightly younger children could play, especially if there is some measure of supervision. Contents: there is a moulded plastic travel case, 23x12x5 cm, which features a built-in playing board with a non-slip surface uniquely designed to hold the special tiles which fit securely on the board. There is no need for paper and pencil to score as there is an integral scoring device on the edge of the board for each player. All the contents can be safely and tidily stored away inside the moulded case. There are four storage racks which are specially designed to hold tiles in place during the playing of the game and which keep them hidden when they are packed away if play has to be interrupted. There are 100 tiles of various values, a cloth bag to hold the tiles and a rules leaflet which is explicit and easy to follow. This is an excellent, compact version of Scrabble which should give hours of pleasure when on the move. --Susan Naylor

Great product June 18, 2010 Wendy Boat (Surrey) Cleverly put together, although we didnt spot storage under both sides of the board at first.
Worked well sitting outside on windy ferries;we didnt lose any of the pieces!
Great portable and fun! May 24, 2010 Adam Gaterell This is the perfect scrabble, not only does it fold up and store easily, it has the brilliant ability that you cannot drop the pieces and can stop half way through a game and carry on another day while folded away...
So far I have played games:
On a bus
On the beach
In the pub
at a friends
on a train
If you like scrabble or want something board game wise that doesn't rely on dice but on brains and learning, this is perfect...
Well worth the buy!
Should have gone for the smaller magnetic one... May 18, 2010 K. Brady (London, England) I bought this to take on holiday but it's bigger than I would have liked. It is durable but bulky and a bit too chunky to put in my hand luggage for a flight. The board folds in half and clips together - I'm not too sure how secure it is so I use a rubber band to keep it closed, just in case. Fun to play while under the influence of alcohol, and more so when one player is using Afrikaans and the other is using English! In hindsight I would have bought the smaller magnetic version.
Best Travel Scrabble available May 14, 2010 Alexander Wilson (Mayfield, Midlothian) There have been a number of Travel Scrabble sets over the years, I have owned a few of them, but I have to say that this is the best. It's quite large for a travel set, but it's a trade off between being comfortable to play, and portability, and gets it just right. The Scrabble tiles, and tile racks fit under the board for storage, and the set comes with a nice little tile bag. Scoring is round the side of the board.
One great feature is that because the pieces 'click' into place, you can fold the board up mid game, and continue at a later time if you wish. Despite the fact that this set is slightly more expensive than a standard Scrabble set, I would highly recommend it, and it's taking over as the main board used in my house, due to the way the pieces stay on the board.
Well-designed for Travelling May 5, 2010 Johnny D (Oxfordshire, UK) I have just received the Travel Scrabble and am very impressed with the design, particularly the way that it is self-contained and can hold everything within its case. It is compact, about the size of a largish paperback book, perhaps the thickness of a Bible. It is reasonably robust, but the reason I have docked it a star for durability is because there was a very slight crack, which could have happened either in manufacture or in transit (although there was no damage to the packaging), at one spot on the plastic playing board. I was concerned that it might spread eventually and have therefore arranged to return it for a replacement. That said, this does appear remarkably good value for money and I am sure we'll get many years of use out of it, both at home and on holiday. Incidentally, the letters bag is strong and of good quality so perhaps the manufacturers have taken heed of previous negative comments in this respect.
