My son was terrified of it!! July 1, 2010 D. Cristofoli (lost) My son is a HUGE Thomas fan and has always been an early riser so I thought this would be ideal for him. However as soon as I showed him that Thomas's face changed from sleeping to awake he totally freaked out! I had to hide it and he was still talking about the 'scary Thomas clock' for days afterwards!! He is 25 months old and I don't consider him a child who is easily scared, however I would recommend only buying this product for a child 3+ and maybe they won't be so frightened of it! If you are looking for a night light I would recommend the 'go glow'light instead as my little boy loves that one.
Go Glow Time - purchased Feb 2010 March 27, 2010 J. Strong We were disappointed that the clock can not be used as an actual clock to teach the time as it doesn't have hour and minute hands. As an aid to keeping a child in bed until a set time it works well, although the mechanism is noisy and could wake your child up is they are not already awake. Also, the batteries don't last very long, especially if you use the nightlight.
With hindsight I think I would just get one of the clocks that changes picture rather than one that looks like a clock.
Does the job nicely March 20, 2010 F. Vesey (Kent, UK) We bought this clock as our 3 year old daughter was waking up before 6am and wandering into our room enquiring when it would be morning time! She still wakes up sometimes but now she can check if Thomas' eyes are open or closed and she will actually wait for a while before coming into us - Result!! The clock is very easy to set up .. we close Thomas' eyes every night after story-time. All in all, this clock does exactly what we wanted.
Brilliant! March 6, 2010 Sue E. (United Kingdom) I love this product and so does my 3 year old son! After reading the other reviews on here, I wasn't sure what to expect from the clock but we have found it to do exactly what it is supposed to do. My son waits for Thomas to 'wake up' before getting out of bed, therefore not getting up too early. It's kept on top of his wardrobe to stop fingers fiddling with it, but he switches it on at bedtime and watches him 'go to sleep' and says goodnight to him. I haven't used the light as he has a bedtime light anyway and I suspect that using the light would cause the batteries to wear out considerably sooner. However, we have not replaced the batteries yet and Thomas is still going strong. He's got a lovely smiling face and the clock itself is nice and sturdy. I recommend this product and I'm sure my son would too. A must for early risers and Thomas fans alike.
Maybe not so good for younger children February 4, 2010 L. Harris We bought this clock for our two and a half year old son, in a vain attempt to get him to go to bed! The clock is great and am not dissatisfied with the product at all. However our son is petrified of the clock. Have to admit i even think the face could be deemed a bit spooky! He is just too young to understand what its all about and therefore its not proved any good for us. This is by no means a negative review, just maybe a warning to others that it would maybe best suit older toddlers/children.
