Unfortunately, this is classed as a toy in the Amazon catalogue, and although younger children may get hours of fun dismantling it, it is not robust enought for this purpose!
As an educational tool, and specifically an aid to drawing and getting the correct proportions for a figure, it is invaluable. It is a little restricted in its movement (there is NO lateral movement in the legs for example), but this is only a minor problem unless you are a fantasy artist. Fantasy Art, requires more 'extreme' poses such as the 'Monkey Stance' for example (the classic 'Trinity' pose on the film posters for 'The Matrix' - crouching with one leg under you and one extended to the side), which would need a different and very much more expensive manikin capable of latteral movement.
Used for what it is designed for, and taking into account its cost, it serves very well; it is quite robust and the joints (so far) are still firm enough to keep the pose into which it is put.
I feel that the 16 inch high model is more useable than the smaller models as the angles are easier to judge.
One word of caution; this is a MALE manikin. The female manikin has different proportions so don't make the mistake of slavishly following the proportions of this model if you are drawing a girl!
Overall, not a bad piece of kit for both the budding and the seasoned artist.
