| Customer Reviews: Looks nice, doesn't stand up to much play August 2, 2010 allaboutbea 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this for my 4 year old who loves Chuggington. Whilst it looks nice, it really doesn't stand up to being played with. The bit at the back to launch the train comes off at my sons every attempt to change its position, and because of the connection on the trains, they don't really launch, as they're not held to the launch button at all. The doors are fiddly to open - activated from a button which is on the inside of the door when its closed, which means a child can't press the button to open them when a train is in place behind the door. This is also the ONLY place to activate the sounds! Plus, the doors overlap when open. The features to the back of the shed are really in the way when he tries to play, and so have also come off repeatedly.
So, whilst it looks nice, I'm really dissapointed. I also ordered the circle of track which has come with Brewster and Wilson, and because of the way the curved junction has been made, we can't actually connect the 2 sets together and still have a loop for the turntable - the connection points on the curves are all the wrong way around to make it fit! The only way to link them means only one way in and out of the engine shed and so a pile of "spare" track.
I agree with a previous reviewer than the trains are fab, but I with they'd just made them to fit the wooden train sets!
Expected better July 30, 2010 Minky 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this toy for my 2yr old son. Since he's still so young he enjoys driving the train around the track. But i found it a bit too childish for its price. You have to press a button so the train leaves the station. If you press it too hard the train falls over and if too little it doesn't move. When you finally manage to get it through the door it absolutely doesn't go round the whole track. It derails after the first bit. It would have been really great to see the train go round the whole track!! When i bought it I was thinking of buying the extra tracks to make it longer but i'm glad i didn't. The trains themselves, on the other hand, are very strong. My son carries them everywhere with him.
chuggington trainee roundhouse playset July 24, 2010 mandee 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We bought this set for our sons 4th birthday and were really disapointed with what you get for your money. The track is not easy enough for a 4 year old to put together - even us adults struggle to connect the parts together. The amount of track is pathetic and the set up falls apart every time you try to turn the turntable which due to its design only turns half way and does not allow the train to turn and enter the roundhouse backwards. Just really disapointing although my son does enjoy it when it is up and running. After years of playing with tomy Thomas tracks which are more durable and child friendly I would definitely think again before buying any more of this chuggington set.
