 Enjoy your DVD's at a new level and be amazed by Blu Ray. November 23, 2008
Superb. Stylish, good quality and the remote is fine. I use Bravia Sync through my 46" Sony Bravia TV and it works really well. Load up time is anything from 5 to 15 seconds depending on the amount of content on each disc I guess so not bad at all. Very pleased with the build quality.
Standard definition DVD's look incredible - not quite Blu Ray which is mind-blowing but very close. I've tried Stardust, Lord of the Rings, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk so far on normal DVD's which I think is a pretty good mix of light and dark and even on a screen the size of mine the picture quality is a huge improvement. Very dark scenes which used to show a lot of pixelation are so much better and sometimes I am quite honestly hard-pressed to tell the difference from Blu Ray...but I can because BR is frankly stunning. Nice rich sound, incredible picture clarity and wonderfully vivid color almost to the point of feeling 3D sometimes.
Well done again to Amazon for excellent delivery times as well as a special mention to Sony - register your player online (get the serial number of the back before you plug it all in!) and Sony send you Casino Royale and Batman Begins on Blu Ray - excellent movies and they look incredible. I received mine in 2 days which took me completely by surprise as they say to allow up to 28 days for delivery. I know everyone hasn't had them as quickly but you never know, maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.
So - I can highly recommend Amazon, Sony, this BR player and watching both DVD's and Blu Ray movies on it.

i have held off for a twelve months for a bluray machine then i bought one
from amazon fantastic delivery.the machine sony 350 connected to my sony
46 40000w hd.it blew my socks off.i thought will smith was siting next to me in the liveing room.(i am legend )this bluray is the dogs b......s.
dont hesitate just go and buy it from amazon if you dont you will be sorry
165 cheep as chips.
my friend paid 600 for one.i paid the above.

I bought this early as I am working overseas and wanted to avoid any mailing problems as this is my Xmas treat. My only slight disappointment is it has fallen by another 10 from the 175 the wife kindly paid.
I also ordered a 1gb sony memeory stick to enable the BD Live facility.
Anyway it arrived and connected to my 40" Sony Bravia and DSL LAN, and after a few easy steps it was updated to profile 2 and I had a quick peek at the BD live bit on the Iron Man BD disc. As for picture quality it was superb (pores on faces individual hairs showing, hugely greater clarity etc) and the sound through my lower end Pioneer dvd/amp was excellent, although could only hook up by stereo analogue so no surround sound. Will have to save for a 7.1 HDMI system.
The remote is similar to the Bravia TV and it was instantly dual functional.
Anyway it is now packed away and will not come out until Crimbo.
I also registered the product and Sony are to send Batman Begins, and Casino Royale - a true bargain and all for 165 (not complaining too much on the price I was refunded VAT).

Visually stunning, without a doubt my best buy from Amazon by far.
If you are thinking of buying a Blu ray player. look no further, don't dilly dally buy this Sony model now.

Wow what can I say first blue ray player I have bought picture quality fantastic, set up easy. Delivery from Amazon second to none.Would reccomend this player and Amazon to everyone even the wife was impressed!.Dont delay get yours today.
