Rubbish! November 15, 2008 I received this as a present for my son for his first Christmas when he was 4 months old.
I immediately had trouble strapping it to the cot as the plastic straps were just not up to the task of attaching to the sides of our cot. I worried about them coming undone and landing on my son in the night as the item is quite heavy.
Like most people have said on here, it's just too noisy to actually soothe your baby. I ended up using it as I was changing his nappy and getting him into his sleeping bag on his changing table rather than in his cot. He enjoyed the lightshow and the tunes like that, but I just didn't want to risk trying to leave it on the setting where you leave it switched on and a noise would start it as like others have said, the smallest noise from him or a cat in the room and it'd trigger it to start up. I'm sure it'd wake him up with a start.
Also, after less than 12 months of using it once a day (and despite checking the batteries) the light show 'disappeared' and all we would get is the tune.
Would NOT recommend this product at all!
Winnie The Pooh Moonlight Dreamshow October 13, 2008 i got this for my little girl as she was having difficulty in sleeping and it has helped as it keeps her entertained and everything as we put her to the bottom of the cot and she wiggles her way up so she can mess with it but there is some dissapoint ments with this item and they are that it is too loud and the sensor is too sensitive and any noise can set it off (even my son can set it off even when he is down stairs playing and my partners snorring) so once my daughter is asleep we turn it off so it dose not start up and wake her up, but i think it is a good item as my daughter dose like it and it dose make her fall asleep but only by making her want to play and coo at it which dose make her sleeping due to reaching for the main box of it thanks for your time and i hope this review helps in someway or another

It sounds great on paper - soothes your baby to sleep and should they awaken during the night, it is sound-activated and should soothe them back to sleep. But as the other reviewers have said, this was far too loud and the slightest noise reactivated it - it woke the baby up and us in the next room! Aside from this the projected image is unclear (had no idea what it was meant to be) Looking at the box gives you the false impression that all sorts of wonderful images are projected round the room...
Do yourselves a favour and buy the Tomy Starlight Dreamshow, we've been using it 6 months now and it still brings a smile to our babies face when we switch it on for bedtime.
I don't understand how Tomy got it so wrong with this one.
Loud - no volume control April 22, 2008 My parents bought this for my son when he was about 6 months. He likes the lightshow and the Disney Winnie-the-Pooh theme it plays is actually quite nice but as many of the other reviewers have said, it is too loud. There is no volume control. The only setting is whether the music/lights time out after 5 or 10 min. There is no option to just have the lightshow without the sound. The unit is also voice activated so if your baby cries, that sets it off. We do use the unit but I've had to attach a lot of padding over the speaker to reduce the volume so the unit itself looks a bit odd with all the padding I've put on it. This at least makes it usable though.
Has every other parent gone mad!!!! January 17, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Everyone seems to have a problem with the noise....WHAT!!!! it has to be loud to overide the child's ear piercing screams in the first place. We had this bought for our daughter when she was only 4wks old. From birth she screamed constantly 24/7 and barely ate, so we were keen to try this as we had exhausted everything else. Put her in her own room at 6wks as we were at a loss as to what to do, and things changed. With this "angel" of a machine, she slept for the first time ever. We DID NOT look back. Whenever she woke up, she got used to just giving one shout so it would come on, and then she would go back to sleep. We finally felt at 2 1/2 that she was getting too old and with a brother on the way,we wanted her to be "a big girl". Now our son is 9mths old and just beginning to go thru the separation anxiety phase and so we have put a music machine in their room. However, it is not voice activated which is causing extreme fatigue on our part. As the one our daughter used had clearly been over used (the projector didnt go round anymore, it just stuck in one place, which didnt really matter as it was just the music that reasurred and comforted her), we are about to purchase this again knowing full well it's all he will need to feel comforted and to get back to sleeping thru the night.
