Tomy Thomas & Friends Megasketcher

If the children in your life love Thomas the Tank Engine, then they will love the Thomas the Tank Engine Megasketcher. A modern take on the classic "Etch-a-Sketch", this large, portable megasketcher, moulded to look like Thomas the Tank Engine himself, is designed to give the imagination of budding artists free reign.

Two "stampers", one featuring Thomas and one featuring Percy, give children the chance to recreate the images of their favourite engines (note, the stampers need quite a lot of pressure to make an image, but little hands will soon get the hang of it!), while a roller-stamp, when pulled along the screen, leaves the mark of a railway track. The double ended pen allows children to draw thick or thin lines, and is attached to the Megasketcher by a chord.

But the really fun part of the Thomas the Tank Engine Megasketcher is the way the screen clears: pull down on Harold the Helicopter and watch as he slowly rises to the top, making a superb racket as he does so and cleaning away drawings to make the megasketcher ready for your young da Vinci to start all over again.

Well from my point of view there are not pieces of paper and crayons all over the place and the toy is easily stored away after use. This has got to be a plus.

From his point of view he has the rubber stamps to create the trains and also the rubber roller which when rolled across the screen makes the train track. This is easy to achieve and something he could not do at his age of 3.

There is also the "magic pen" which allows him to create his own shapes and designs which mean something to him but not necessarily to adults. A quick pull of the lever at the side (something he can easily do himself). The screen is wiped clean for another picture.

The toy is durable and safe for a young child. It has rounded edges and nothing sharp on it at all. If there are infants about care should be taken with the rubber stamps as these type of things usually end up in babies mouths. But they can be put out of the way until it is safe to use them.

A sturdy toy - it has to be in our house, the mega sketcher provides hours of fun for Thomas fans.

The children love making tracks and prints of Thomas and Percy with the tools provided. They can draw their own designs with the special pen and once the space is full Harold swoops down to clear the screen and the fun starts all over again.

Based on the old drawing screens we loved as children this is the modern version that lasts and lasts.
