Great features, but risk of faults too high November 21, 2008 After the great success of the old BT digital monitor we bought 3 years ago for our daughter, we did not hesitate to buy the new version for our baby son.
Whilst all the features are great and we cannot find another monitor with everything this monitor has to offer at such a reasonable price, after a few weeks the monitor developed a fault - the parent unit will now only link to the child unit when held directly next to it!
BT were of no help (they ignore emails to their help address and the adviser on the phone just told us to swap for a new model).
However, reading other reviews I think we will be looking elsewhere for something more reliable.
very disapointed November 8, 2008 This product works very well, the sound is clear all the features are great BUT there is obviously a problem with this item as I purchased the old version which broke down after six months (same problem as everyone keeps pointing out, the sound stops working)then I bought twice the new version and both broke down after a few months. So i am very disapointed and a stunned that BT has been able to solve this problem before the launch of their new version.
Faulty after 3 months October 19, 2008 We bought this monitor as we thought bt would be the most reliable...how wrong we were! Less than 3 months after buying it the baby unit will not connect to the mains adaptor meaning that we have to put in 4 aa batteries every 2 days. Needless to say that we will be saving money and buying a different unit.
From reading other reviews there seems to be issues with the life span of this product.
A waste of 50.
Unacceptable software bug, no support. Could be great if fixed. October 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I gave this 3 stars based on first impressions. Subsequent experience reduces it to one star but Amazon doesn't let you change your rating! If this product worked dependably, it would get 5 stars - when working it's better than the more expensive Philips model I eventually bought its place. But the Philips one is reliable and the BT one isn't.
It's a shame because the product could be great - I've owned a cheaper baby monitor and it wasn't worth having because of interference. This one has all the features you need and the sound is clear. But I've had two examples of this BT model and both had a problem: the sound was occasionally muted for no apparent reason. One reviewer hinted that this is just a question of not understanding the features, but it's not that. (The mute feature was off, and the sensitivity was set to maximum, yet no sound would be heard). So this product is not fit for purpose. It looks like a software bug (randomly occurs about 1 time in 10, and can only be fixed by power cycling the product). It affected both examples I had in Sept/Oct 2008.
BT offer an email support service which they ignore and a helpline number which just played me hold music.
Absolutely useless! September 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This monitor wouldn't work outside our house - not so handy on pleasant summer evenings! The sound then completely stopped working during the night (was working when we went to bed so wasn't something we were doing). By the 3rd time this happened we'd completely lost confidence in the monitor and went back to using our old Philips analogue model. Would not recommend.
