4 out of 5 stars Great puzzle, shame about the solution booklet   March 4, 2007
5 out of 9 found this review helpful

I bought this cube as a gift for a friend, and wanted to see how easy to apply/learn the included solution was. The first six steps of the supposed "7 Step Solution Guide" went fine, but the seventh step was a complete shambles which, rather than completing the cube, messed a large portion of it up (luckily I know what I'm doing, even if Drummond Park don't). Hopefully this will be put right in future solution books, but until then buyers will have to go elsewhere for a solution (there are plenty of good online resources for this, and there is in fact another booklet at www.rubiks.com which might be correct).

This seems to be one of the only Rubik's Cubes with a decent mechanism available at the moment, and the puzzle itself is a pretty good one: smooth easy turns, yet tightly held together (not sure about durability as I only received it today, but it seems pretty sturdy). I'd always recommend the Rubik's Cube as a great puzzle, and this seems to be a good quality version of it. Perhaps the incorrect solution is a blessing in disguise too - it will actually be an achievement to complete it.

So for the puzzle, I'd probably give five stars (I've been playing with my Cube (a different brand) for almost three years now and haven't grown tired of it), but overall I have to deduct a point for that solution book.

1 out of 5 stars Why....   January 11, 2007

Why do they need to use stickers, why don't they just have the colours sprayed, painted or whatever on the cubes. It would make cheating that bit more of a hassle.

3 out of 5 stars The stickers come off - but don't go back on...   June 4, 2006

My rubiks cube was fine, until I worked out how to complete it. Then it was subjected to high speed rubix-ing in attempts to get better and better times for greater and greater glory.

But it didn't have the pace - the stickers come off, but don't go back on, so eventually my rubiks cube had 6 white sides. (for me, orange went first)

However, after looking around, I found the sort I had is now the only one availiable, apart from keyrings, simpsons, and sudoku editions, yet it shows that they're worth having as I got another one without delay.

I am almost definately victim to a rubiks scam - get 'em hooked, then make it unstick. :-)

4 out of 5 stars Great game, bad quality   March 12, 2006

I love the cube, but the one I purchased lasted all of 2 days. The stickers (especially the green ones) started coming off. I have had to paint them once the stickers came of. The cube it self is of good quality, I just dont understand why they had to use stickers instead of having the colors painted onto the cube.
